Alleged tagger ‘R33P’ arrested after 3-night standoff | News

A man accused of tagging “R33P” in about a dozen places in Tumon was arrested on Halloween night.

Andrew Edward Gonzalez faces five misdemeanor graffiti charges after an IHOP employee identified him through security footage.

According to the magistrate’s complaint in the case, security guards first noticed graffiti on the staircase in the Dusit Beach parking garage in Tumon.

According to the document, he had not been there for a previous check, and upon reviewing security footage, they saw a man graffiti “R33P” on the wall, then get into a vehicle and drive away.

The next day, the “R33P” label appeared near the ABC store at Dusit Thani Hotel in Tumon. Upon checking the footage, a man was seen leaving the ABC store on foot towards SandCastle. An employee at a nearby IHOP identified the man as Gonzalez.

On Halloween, an employee of the Guam Visitors Bureau called police to report graffiti — tag R33P — on several GTA junction boxes, bus stops and retaining walls in Tumon.

Police located Gonzalez at his workplace, and Gonzalez agreed to go to the station for an interview.

The complaint states that Gonzalez admitted to several graffiti events and said the “R33P” tag was his. He was arrested at 4:40 p.m. Oct. 31, according to the complaint.
