Arizona Weather Forecast: Cooler temperatures in the forecast with an increased chance of rain this weekend

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service say people in the Phoenix area could see wet weather this weekend.

In their forecast, officials at the NWS office in Phoenix are forecasting a high of 79°F on Saturday with some clouds throughout the day.

By Sunday, our next system moves in. The storm forms over the Pacific Northwest, then slides down California the coast until Saturday.

By Sunday morning, the system will move into Arizona with a cold front. This storm will bring the potential for rain, mountain snow, strong winds and cooler temperatures. For now, it looks like the storm will track over northern Arizona – giving the best chance for rain/snow in areas north and east of the Valley at higher elevations.

Rain chances, according to the NWS, range from 18 percent in Phoenix to 71 percent in Show Low.

“Forecast precipitation totals are 0.0-0.1″ for the lower deserts of south-central AZ, 0.05-0.2″ for the foothills, and 0.2-0.5” for the higher ground north and east of Phoenix,” part of the forecast. read.

Forecasters also say dry conditions are expected to return on Monday.
