Woman accused of performing thousands of fake Botox and filler injections

BOSTON, Mass. (WBZ/CNN Newsource/WKRC) – A woman allegedly performed thousands of fake injections at her beauty clinic, even though she was not licensed or certified.

Food and Drug Administration criminal investigators first came into contact with Rebecca Fadanelli, 38, after one of her patients complained of lumps and tingling in his lips after receiving an injection from Fadanelli in 2022.

Once the client asked Fadanelli for the prescription of the substance with which she was injected, Fadanelli was allegedly unable to provide it.

The FDA was further intrigued when it learned that Homeland Security had also pursued Fadanelli after Customs and Border Patrol allegedly seized packages addressed to her containing illegal prescription drugs. They also claimed they caught her at another airport leaving with other illegal injectables.

Authorities said they found the drugs at Fadanelli’s spa.

Authorities said Fadanelli eventually confessed that she bought the injectables from a Chinese seller over Alibaba and was unsure if they were FDA-approved.

A subsequent investigation found that Fadanelli was not licensed or certified to perform the procedures she had been performing on patients for years. According to authorities, the injections he was using were counterfeit brands.

Prosecutors said Fadanelli made $900,000 from the attempt.
