WILLINGBORO — Police say a man who broke into a home here killed the mother and grandmother of his son, an 8-year-old who survived the predawn attack.

Junior Edwards, 37, of Lansdowne, Pa., is accused of killing Catherine Nunez, 33, and Marisol Nunez, 54, at a home in Harrington Circle, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.

Edwards and Catherine Nunez were the parents of the boy who was in the home at the time of the shootings, prosecutors said Saturday.

Marisol Nunez was the boy’s maternal grandmother.

A GoFundMe appeal seeking contributions for funeral expenses, had raised more than $12,000 by Saturday afternoon.

“This loss has left our family devastated and is a reminder of how fragile life can be,” says the appeal, which notes the child now faces “a bittersweet healing journey.”

The appeal was launched by Maria Nunez, a sister of Marisol in Hollywood, Florida.

Edwards allegedly broke a first-floor window to enter the home around 4 a.m., then fatally shot the women in an upstairs bedroom, prosecutors said.

Police found the victims’ bodies after responding to a call about an apparent burglary in progress.

The suspected murder weapon was found outside the home in the Hawthorne Park neighborhood.

Edwards was charged while in custody on unrelated charges in Philadelphia, prosecutors said.

He is also charged with home burglary with a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child and weapons offenses.

Allegations are just allegations. Edwards was not convicted in the case.
