The frontal system drops temperatures and adds rain to your forecast

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) — Temperatures today are reaching the upper 70s, with some areas seeing as high as 80 degrees. Overnight, temperatures will drop into the mid-50s after the front moves through.

HEADLINES:

  • The upper 70s are back
  • Front pushing through this afternoon
  • Little chance of rain

DISCUSSION:

Today is one of the last days we will experience temperatures in the upper 70s and 80s. We can expect mostly sunny skies until a cold front moves through. This afternoon will be nice and warm, but once the front hits eastern Kentucky, temperatures will drop. Rain will begin to fall across the region starting in northwestern counties Friday afternoon and moving into southwestern counties overnight and into Saturday. By Saturday afternoon, the rain should clear completely from our area and we’ll stay dry until Halloween.

Tonight’s lows will only reach the mid-50s, with tomorrow’s lows reaching the 30s and 40s.

Looking ahead:

Temperatures will drop into the low to mid 60s this Saturday and Sunday due to the cold front. However, warmer weather is on the horizon. By Monday, temperatures will climb into the 70s, and Wednesday is expected to reach 70 degrees again. This warming trend will continue as we remain seasonably warm through election week.
