DETROIT LAKES, Minnesota (KVLY/Gray News ) – A Minnesota church is in disbelief after the former pastor’s wife was arrested in connection with his “violent” death in Africa.

On October 25, Beau Shroyer, 44, was killed on a mission trip to Angola with his wife and their five children, Lakes Area Vineyard Church announced.

Shroyer was a former pastor at the church, but moved his family to Angola three years ago to become missionaries with SIM USA.

The church announced that Jackie Shroyer had been arrested, but did not provide further details.

A State Department representative confirmed the death of a US citizen and said it was aware of information about a US citizen detained in Angola.

However, they did not share any other information.
