10 MBTA employees at Cabot Yard on leave amid criminal investigation, reports say

Nearly a dozen employees who work at the MBTA’s Cabot Yard maintenance facility are on administrative leave during an investigation into allegations that they were working on private vehicles during business hours, according to multiple rEPORTS.

MBTA General Manager Philip Eng said The Boston Globe“it looks like they were doing something they shouldn’t have been doing on MBTA property or on MBTA time.”

“As public servants, we have an obligation to fulfill the duties we have accepted in these roles,” Eng told the newspaper. “These employees apparently weren’t doing that.”

An MBTA spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation of Eng’s comments sent Friday morning.

The investigation focuses on the MBTA’s Cabot Yard maintenance facility in South Boston, WCVB-TV reported. The transit agency “stores and maintains” Red Line cars at the facility, according to its official website.

“Any findings from this investigation will be addressed appropriately and consistent with our core values,” Eng told WCVB.
