The Windsor Police Service works to deter shoplifting by providing specific tactical and strategic enforcement.

The app will help companies catch repeat offenders.

Deputy Chief Jason Crowley said many businesses take a hands-off approach and many repeat offenders know it.

Crowley is calling for major retailers to rethink their approach to handling theft.

“They have stores where you need your ID at the door or you don’t get in,” he said.

“These are things that are not in place in some places in Ontario. Maybe it’s time to look at some of these things.”
