Months after Mica Miller’s death, the FBI raids the home of the husband’s pastor

The FBI searched his house John-Paul Millerthe South Carolina pastor whose wife, Classifiedhe committed suicide in April.

An FBI spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment from PEOPLE, but WBTW, WPDE and The news of the Sun all reported that agents were seen outside the home of John-Paul Miller in Horry County, SC

Both WPDE and WBTW reported that an FBI spokesman said the agency was conducting “court-authorized law enforcement activities” at the home.

Miller’s attorney, Russell Long, confirmed that the FBI searched the home in a statement to PEOPLE.

“They executed a search warrant at his home this morning, as expected,” Long said. “Nothing new really. Hopefully this is the end of it.”

Mica Miller, 30, was found dead in a state park in Robeson County, NC, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to local authorities.

Mica and John-Paul, who is the pastor at Solid Rock at Market Common in Myrtle Beach, were estranged at the time of her death. Just over a week before she died, Mica filed for separate support and maintenance against John-Paul, which is the same as a legal separation, the Horry County Clerk told PEOPLE.

Mica’s loved ones speculated that there it could have been a foul play involved in her death, but local authorities strongly rejected it, saying the evidence of a suicide was “clear and convincing”.

The search of John-Paul’s Horry County home comes months after the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office told PEOPLE in May that the FBI is leading “parallel investigation” that was not involved in Mică’s death.

“There is no evidence to connect him to her death,” Damien McLean of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office told PEOPLE in May. “(The FBI) is investigating her death separately. Her death was ruled a suicide.”

The FBI has not said what the nature of the investigation is.
