Late night crash claimed life in West Seattle, investigation ongoing

A 31-year-old man died after a crash in the West Seattle neighborhood Wednesday night, according to Seattle police.

Police said that shortly after 10 p.m., officers responded to reports of an accident involving a car that collided with a parked vehicle in the 6300 block of 48th Avenue SW.

Seattle police, along with fire medics, arrived a short time later and found a 31-year-old man “unresponsive in his vehicle.”

“The man was extricated from the car and treated by medics,” Seattle police wrote in a news release. “Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police said officers then cordoned off the area so detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad led their investigation.

The 31-year-old man was driving a Volvo when he crashed into a parked Ford SUV, police said.

“This is an open and ongoing investigation and detectives will work to determine what led to the collision,” Seattle police wrote.
