Oct. 30 — A Tacoma man faces a harassment charge after he allegedly threatened to kill his ex-wife repeatedly on Aug. 30.

The victim’s neighbor called police after the victim received several text threats from a phone number associated with her ex-husband, identified as Ian Christopher Sohayda, 44, and may have seen Sohayda’s vehicle, a Buick gray near her Winlock residence on the morning of August 30.

Messages the victim received via text included “I got a bullet with your name on it if I ever see your ugly f— you look fat tw — t,” “F—k your house, I brought my drill,” and “I want you dead and I hope I’m the one who does it,” according to court documents.

The victim said she was “scared” and left her home around 10:30 a.m. on August 30. While driving, Sohayda allegedly called her and said: “Don’t worry, I’m not going to kill you. , I’ll beat you within an inch of your life.”

Sohayda allegedly continued to call the victim throughout the day, with officers noting several calls from Sohayda’s number to the victim’s phone while speaking with the victim.

An officer asked the victim to answer the phone to confirm it was Sohayda. As she did so, Sohayda was heard saying, “F—ing c—t, you called the police” before hanging up.

Officers were unable to locate Sohayda that day.

He was charged Oct. 21 in Lewis County Superior Court with one count of harassment, domestic violence. The charge is a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Sohayda was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail just after 11:35 a.m. on Oct. 29, according to jail records.

Bail is set at $50,000.

Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, November 7.
