Riotous crowd in Los Angeles sets fire to bus and enters stores to celebrate Dodgers win

Crowds gathered in Los Angeles for Game 5 of the World Series became Wednesday and engaged in illegal activity Wednesday night after the LA Dodgers. officially won the titleresulting in at least a dozen arrests.

The Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees during one of the greatest World Series in decades. The game was particularly notable for featuring two of the most prominent and historic teams in Major League Baseball.

West Coast mobs set fire to a city bus, broke into shops and set off fireworks on Wednesday night. Some revelers also threw objects at police in downtown LA after officers told the crowd to disperse. No injuries were reported, according to the Associated Press.

“The overwhelming majority of last night’s celebrations were joyful and peaceful,” Mayor Karen Bass said at a news conference Thursday. “We will work to keep Angelenos safe, as always … (and) violence of any kind will not be tolerated.”

The city’s celebrations are expected to continue this week, including a victory parade on Friday, followed by a celebration at Dodgers Stadium. The Los Angeles Police Department will be on high alert for the rest of the week and next week for the presidential election.

LAPD officials encouraged revelers not to set off illegal fireworks in their celebrations and take over city intersections this weekend. City officials also urged fans not attending Friday’s events to work remotely that day because of high traffic from the parade and celebration.
