Why Agatha All Along Didn’t Need a Post-Credits Scene

Agatha All Along just broke Marvel tradition by ending without a post-credits scene, but that’s a good thing in this case.

Ever since Nick Fury approached Tony Stark at the end of Iron Man’s credits, wanting to discuss the “Avengers Initiative,” post-credits scenes have become an integral part of the film. Marvel The cinematic universe.

They were used to introduce new heroes and villains, pay off jokes that were created earlier in the proceedings, and send fans out of theaters excited for what’s to come.

Post-credits action has also become part of Marvel’s ongoing TV concerns, notably the end of Ms. Marvel, who teased wonders movie in a wonderful way.

But first out of the gate was WandaVision, a show that ended with a post-credits scene where Scarlet Witch hears her twin boys crying for help. Which brings us to the spinoff Agatha All Alonga show that we will detail below, so spoilers before…

Agatha All Along tells a story of its own

A 10-part musical-fantasy-comedy-drama, the series sent the villainous Agatha Harkness on an adventure down the Witch’s Road while describing her backstory to suggest why she does such evil things .

There have been troubling revelations along the way Rio being Lady DeathThe witches road being a mental construct and the song at the heart of the show meaning nothing and instead being part of a long con.

But the biggest surprise was that William Kaplan was actually Billy Maximoff, Wanda’s son, and the boy they call Wiccan.

Which connected Agatha All Along to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fortunately, however, it was not then is based on those ties, with Ralph Bohner (Evan Peters) the only cameo of note.

Instead, the show told a self-contained story about a coven going on a quest, Agatha’s complicated feelings for Billy, some killing witchesand Billy’s desperate desire to find his brother Tommy.

Which made a refreshing change from those shows and movies that often have an eye toward the future rather than focusing on the present.

Why “Let’s Find Tommy” is enough

Nowhere was this more evident than at the end of episode 10, where there was no post-credits scene. Because Agatha All Along told all the story it wanted to tell before those cast and crew names appeared.

In the final scene, Ghost Agatha appears to Billy and they argue before Billy tries to banish her “into the light or the toxic embrace of Rio or wherever you deserve to spend eternity”.

When this fails, as Agatha is unable to face her son, she comes up with an alternative, telling Billy, “We could make a good team, you and me.” And so, as one magical door closes, another opens, revealing a staircase leading to a bright white light.

Agatha says “Let’s find Tommy”—the perfect final words—and they step into that light, a mismatched duo embarking on a brand new quest. One that doesn’t need anything post-credits to set the scene or tease potential agatha season 2because the work has already been done.
