Driver charged with DUI after killing passenger in Las Vegas crash

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) — Nevada State Police have identified the victim and suspect in a wrong-way crash near Boulder Highway.

NSP responded to the incident on Oct. 25 just before 3 a.m. where two vehicles collided head-on.

According to police, a black 2023 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound in the northbound lane.

The driver of the Toyota has been identified as 22-year-old Alyssa Scott.

Officials reported that a silver 2012 Cadillac CTS was traveling north in the left lane when they saw the Toyota coming their way. They tried to get out of the way but ended up bumping into each other.

Marilyn Amilia Rodriguez, 18, was the passenger in the Toyota, who later died at the hospital from her injuries, according to State Police.

Scott was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, but is currently receiving treatment at an area hospital.

NSP reports that Scott is facing multiple charges, including felony DUI, reckless driving, possession of an open container of alcohol inside a motor vehicle and failure to drive properly on a divided highway.

Scott is scheduled to appear in court on November 5.

Highway Patrol officers have investigated 61 fatal crashes so far in 2024.
