Multi-agency law enforcement operation leads to 91 arrests before Halloween

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Ouachita Parish law enforcement is working together to make Halloween a little safer this year.

On October 24th and 25th, various law enforcement agencies conducted “Operation Safer Streets for Trick or Treating.” According to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, 91 arrests were made during the operation.

The following is a list of items seized during the arrest:

  • Confiscated firearms: 14
  • Compensated mandates: 86
  • Marijuana: 413 grams
  • Ecstasy: 2.5 dosage units
  • Methamphetamine: 30 grams
  • Crack: 10.5 grams
  • PCP: 1 cigarette
  • Xanax: 1 unit

“Public safety is a priority for all of us, and the timing of this operation ensures a safer and more enjoyable environment for families and children attending Halloween festivities,” Mashaw explained. “Initiatives like this highlight the importance of being proactive in creating a supportive and safe parish for all.”

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, METRO Narcotics, Monroe Police Department, West Monroe Police Department, Louisiana State Police, Louisiana State Probation and Parole, District Attorney Steve Tew, 4th JDC, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau for alcohol, tobacco and firearms, University of Louisiana at Monroe Police and the Louisiana Air National Guard Drug Enforcement Wing were involved in “Operation Safer Streets for Trick or Treating.”
