KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the area of ​​E. 34th Street and Garfield Avenue.

A shooting call came in to the Kansas City Missouri Police Department just before 8:15 p.m. Thursday. Just before 9 p.m., police confirmed the shooting was fatal and said an investigation was underway.

The filming location is just east of the 71 freeway.

Police said they were initially called to the area for a lookout activation. While officers were en route, an additional call of a shooting came in from the same area.

When police arrived, EMS personnel were removing a woman from a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. She was taken to an area hospital where she died.

A preliminary investigation reveals that shots were fired from outside the vehicle, striking the woman inside.

Police said there was no one in custody and no persons of interest as of 10 p.m. Thursday.
