A 75-year-old woman was duped of Rs 10 lakh by cybercriminals who hacked her mobile phone, changed her internet banking password and withdrew two Fixed Deposits of Rs 5 lakh each prematurely.

Sarita Verma, a resident of Hyderabad, came to her nephew’s house in Green Heights Amaltas Gulmohar, nephew Yash Johri told that aunt Sarita Verma worked in the bank. On October 19, he searched the internet for the number of an SBI bank officer, which turned out to be that of a fraudster.

The scammer who picked up the call spoke to her and got all the information, then hacked her mobile, changed her internet banking password and withdrew two FDs of Rs 5 lakh each and withdrew Rs 10 lakh.

Yash Johri said it took him four days to file a complaint about the fraud committed on his aunt. The next day of the fraud, on October 19, he reached the Shahpura police station with the complaint.

The personnel present in the police station said that the complaint will be lodged with the State Cyber ​​Police. The next day he reached the State Cyber ​​Police office along with his aunt, but the complaint could not be registered here due to the website being down.

The staff said they can file a complaint through the National Cyber ​​Crime Portal. Filed a complaint through this portal. He got a message from the portal that the complaint has been sent to Shahpura police station.
