APR brings sustainable fashion to JFW 2025 with collaborations with designers, retailers – Companies

As part of efforts towards a more sustainable fashion industry, Riau-based sustainable viscose rayon producer Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) has partnered with some of the biggest names in fashion in Indonesia to promote forward-thinking yet eco-friendly styles, at Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW). 2025.

Although APR’s collaborations with the local fashion scene date back to 2019, this year’s JFW marks the company’s third year at the annual fashion event and the first time it has partnered with DuniaTex, one of South Asia’s largest textile manufacturers- East.

The partnership with DuniaTex brought new collaborations with Indonesian labels and retailers, including EMBA Group and Matahari, across two days of the week-long event themed ‘Evolution of Fashion’. All garments used DuniaTex fabrics, which were spun from renewable and biodegradable APR rayon viscose fibres.

APR President Director Basrie Kamba said his participation demonstrated upstream-downstream collaboration in the development of the sustainable textile industry in Indonesia, with the aim of further increasing public education on the importance of sustainable fashion.

“APR’s participation in the two-day Jakarta Fashion Week is a real step to support the development of sustainable fashion in Indonesia. We believe that collaboration between sectors can expand the positive impact and public learning about the importance of sustainable materials,” he said.

DuniaTex Marketing Manager Yulius Ari Budi Nugroho said the collaboration reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainable textile products and innovation in the Indonesian fashion industry.

“We want to invite Indonesia’s textile industry players to continue to develop and show their best potential. This collaboration is not only about fashion products, but also an effort to promote Indonesia’s textile industry,” he said.

Presented on the first day of JFW 2025, the collaboration with EMBA Group featured a total of 48 menswear and womenswear pieces representing four of its brands: Ladies, Denim, Morphidae and Classic.

The menswear collections created in collaboration with Danjyo Hiyoji featured two major themes. The ‘Wild Ones’ collection, part of EMBA Denim, featured denim appliqués using durable viscose-rayon with a seasoned and experimental style. Voyage, meanwhile, featured classic lines that combined greens, dark blues and beiges, exuding beach and desert charm with elegant viscose-rayon appliqués.

Designer Tities Saputra, who was responsible for the womenswear collections, took on the theme of ‘Freedom’ and ‘Calma’ for the EMBA Ladies and Morphidae brands respectively. “Freedom” showcased a chic denim revolution through the use of viscose rayon, while “Calma” highlighted environmentally sustainable materials.

“Through this Fashion Evolution collection, we can highlight various clothing styles, from casual to elegant, with varied yet durable material applications,” said Mia Wu, EMBA Group’s marketing communications manager.

On the second day of JFW 2025, APR and DuniaTex’s collaboration with Matahari showcased 48 contemporary looks under the department store’s exclusive brands Nevada and ZES.

Aimed at younger shoppers looking for both style and durability, the Nevada collection carries the concept of “Confident Teen Spirit”, celebrating individuals who confidently express their uniqueness. This was represented by viscose-rayon applications and bright colors, combining elements of varsity, denim and grunge.

Meanwhile, ZES’s ‘Stress-free Commute’ collection emphasizes sleek modern style, using soft and breathable viscose rayon to maximize comfort for everyday urban wear.

Previously, APR partnered with Matahari to support sustainable fashion through a showcase of APR’s viscose-rayon clothing collection and textile waste management program. The Jakarta Fashion Week 2025 collaboration once again shows the synergy between APR and Matahari to support sustainable fashion.
