A Hampden man pleads guilty to possession of child pornography

HAMPDEN, Maine (WABI) – A Hampden man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.

The Justice Department says that last May, Homeland Security investigators and state police searched the home of 66-year-old Michael King.

According to authorities, when King was interviewed by agents, he admitted to possessing child sexual abuse material and told agents where his laptop could be found.

The laptop is said to have been seized and hundreds of images recovered.

King was previously convicted in a Kennebec County court in 2017 of possessing sexually explicit material of children.

Both cases involve images of children under 12.

King faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000 when convicted.
