Mid-Missouri to deal with isolated risks of severe weather

Fall is here and Halloween is just around the corner, but you can never rule out the chance of severe weather this time of year. Across the central plains, there is a chance for severe weather heading into Wednesday evening and overnight.

Here in Missouri, ranking from highest to lowest, there is a chance of increased, mild, and marginally severe weather. The risk of severe weather brings damaging winds, large hail and some isolated tornadoes.

The main threat would be damaging winds, winds greater than 58 miles per hour, Kansas City is expecting a 30% chance of damaging winds and a 15% chance here in Mid-Missouri. Even though the threat is low, we cannot rule out the chance of large hail and isolated tornadoes.

We can expect thunderstorms to be in the Mid-Missouri region late Wednesday night and into the overnight hours. The weather system will cool temperatures down to our normal average for this time of year, which is around the mid to upper 60s. The rain may bring some well-needed precipitation that may temporarily help the state’s drought situation.
