Clinton Twp. man accused of shooting teenagers in car charged

A 21-year-old man has been charged with allegedly shooting three teenagers in Macomb Township, authorities announced Wednesday.

Kevin Donte Price, 21, was visiting a friend’s home when he allegedly tried to pick a fight with a teenage boy who lived there as he entered the home Sunday, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement of the press.

The victim left his home, got back in his car with his two friends and drove away, according to the affidavit.

Investigators say Price got into his car and chased the youths before pulling up next to their vehicle and shooting them multiple times.

Price’s bullets struck another car during the shooting. No one was injured.

The three managed to escape and call the police.

“Violence of any kind in our community is unacceptable and we take these incidents extremely seriously,” Macomb County District Attorney Peter Lucido said in the statement. “This reckless and dangerous behavior could have had tragic consequences and we are grateful that no one was injured.

Price was charged with 10 felonies, including discharging a firearm from a vehicle and malicious destruction of personal property between $1,000 and $20,000. He was also charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and four counts of using a firearm to commit a felony.

Magistrate James Verploeg arraigned Price in 41A Shelby District Court on Tuesday and set his bond at $500,000.

Price must be confined to his home, not contact any of the victims and remain in Michigan with a GPS link if released.

Verploeg also referred him to Community Corrections for a mental health evaluation.

Price’s attorney, William Barnwell, declined to comment Wednesday.

His probable cause hearing is scheduled for Nov. 12.

A preliminary examination is also scheduled for Nov. 19, according to online court records.
