Jameson Williams’ attorney does not believe criminal charges have been filed

lawyer Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams doesn’t think the former first-round pick will face criminal charges stemming from an incident in which he and his brother were pulled over with concealed weapons in a vehicle.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the speeding incident large being pulled over and eventually released without arrest.

Conformable WXYZ-TV“Late last week, the Detroit Police Department DPD filed a warrant application with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. Williams faces a charge of carrying a concealed weapon in a motor vehicle.”

Appearing on WJR Wednesday morning, Williams’ attorney shared why he believes his client is unlikely to face criminal charges.

“The gun is registered correctly,” Flood said. “There is no problem with that. He is not the driver of the vehicle. His brother is. There was a CPL holder in the car. This immunizes that standard practices and protocols were followed, there would not have been a criminal charge filed.”

The lions issued a statement, indicating that the organization was made aware of the matter shortly after the police interaction.

“Jameson immediately made us aware that he was a passenger during a routine traffic stop on October 8,” the statement said. “We have discussed the incident with him and have kept the league informed of what we know. We understand he was released without incident or citation. We now understand that the Detroit Police Department is re-examining the matter. Jameson has retained an attorney and we will not comment further out of respect for the legal process.”
