“It’s not good enough. I don’t know. We’re just not making plays,” said coach Jim Montgomery, whose team is 1-3-0-1, including two losses in its last four games. “We’re not doing enough to create high-danger scoring chances. Whether that is a willingness to go into those areas or not is a proper game plan. It’s all our fault that we didn’t come out with a win tonight.”

Montgomery said the team’s stars need to start playing like stars.

“I think on every team, your best players, your star players have to carry the weight, the load offensively,” he said. “Those are the players that are on the power play. At the moment, the offense is not materializing for us.”

He said that simplifying things is the first step.

“It’s a multitude of things. It seems like some guys are still struggling with their confidence and their ability to just be with the puck on the ice,” Montgomery said. “There are areas where we need to be better. Whether it’s getting the puck to the net when people are there, faster, not going over shots or building the team’s attack, which sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t. It’s a combination. But it really comes down to making decisions right now

Hampus Lindholm agreed with his coach.

“When pucks don’t go in, it gets frustrating,” he said. “It’s the simple things that will get you out of it. We got into tough areas and put the pucks in good spots.”
