Evansville Thunderbolts Break ‘Education Day’ Attendance Record

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – The Evansville Thunderbolts were back on the home ice Tuesday morning with the crowd on hand.

That’s because it was “Education Day” at the Ford Center.

Tri-State schools made the trip to watch the Evansville Thunderbolts in action on the ice.

Several students were excited to come out and see the team play.

The Thunderbolts even broke their single-game attendance record during this year’s Education Day game for the second year in a row, welcoming 7,758 fans to the Ford Center.

One of the teachers talked about how interesting it is to watch the game with their students.

“They were already up and jumping out of their seats, we already scored a goal and we were jumping and yelling and cheering,” says teacher Alexa Wannemuehler. “They were pumped and I think I was pumped too, like it would be great to come and see the local team play. A lot of kids haven’t had that opportunity before, so it’s really exciting.”

The Thunderbolts next game is scheduled for Friday at the Ford Center.
