MAPLE HILL, NC (WECT) – The Pender County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) has arrested a man for murder in the Maple Hill area.

According to a news release from PCSO, deputies responded to a 911 call on Tuesday, Oct. 29, on Maple Hill School Road and found three people who had been shot.

Two of the victims were taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center and another to Novant Health Pender Medical Center. One of them died from his injuries.

Jesse Conroy Watkins, 67, of Maple Hill, was charged with murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault with a weapon deadly and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Watkins made his first appearance today in Pender County.
