LIMESTONE CO., Ala. (Waffle) – Two people were arrested following a drug bust in Athens on Monday.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Narcotics Division and SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a home on Beech St.

The warrant was the result of CID and narcotics investigators working together on fentanyl overdose death investigations.

During the search, investigators recovered drugs and drug paraphernalia at the home where 49-year-old Darryl Johnson and 34-year-old Tarika Gilbert were arrested.

Johnson was charged with Trafficking in Drugs – Fentanyl, Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana – Second Degree.

Gilbert was charged with Trafficking in Drugs – Fentanyl, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana – Second Degree.

Bond has not been set for either Johnson or Gilbert.
