Two minors accused of killing a 14-year-old boy in Chauvin

CHAUVIN, La. (WVUE) – Two juvenile suspects are in custody accused of killing a 14-year-old boy they carjacked, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday (Oct. 29).

The victim was found shot to death in a wooded area last Friday, authorities said. Neither the victim’s name nor the ages and identities of his accused killers have been released by law enforcement.

“Our detectives have been working tirelessly since learning of the incident and we are working to quickly resolve this extremely tragic event,” Sheriff Tim Soignet said in a statement. “As always, we ask for privacy for the family and friends of the victims and patience from the community as we continue to investigate this complex case.”

Family members identified the slain boy to Fox 8 as Bobby Andras.

According to the sheriff’s office, the three juveniles were linked to a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred late Tuesday night into early Wednesday.

After Andras’ body was found around 12:30 a.m. Friday near Alex Lane in Chauvin’s Smithridge neighborhood, the other two juvenile suspects were identified and brought in for questioning. During those interviews, Soignet said, one of the two suspects confessed to “being responsible for the victim’s death.”

The juvenile suspects were arrested on charges of second-degree murder. It will be up to Terrebonne Parish District Attorney Joseph Waitz whether the cases will be transferred and prosecuted in adult court in the 32nd Judicial District.

“We will not stop until we bring justice to those affected in this heinous act of violence,” Soignet said.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 876-2500 or Bayou Region Crimestoppers at (800) 743-7433.
