BRUSSELS Airlines has restarted operations from Birmingham Airport after operations were suspended earlier this year.

Flights between Birmingham Brussels airport and airport with the airline were stopped in summer.

It has been widely reported that the airline has ceased operations at Birmingham Airport to “focus on more profitable leisure routes”.

However, the route was reinstated just months after it was canceled by the airline.

Six flights will operate between the two destinations every week.

Flights will depart Brussels at 15.45 local time, arriving in the UK at 16.00.

Services will then leave Birmingham Airport at 16:45 before landing Brussels at 18.55 local time.

Flights between the two destinations will take 70 minutes.

Sun Online Travel have found one-way fares from £92.50.

Adam Parker, Senior Aviation Manager at Birmingham Airport said: “Brussels Airlines has been a partner of Birmingham Airport for many years, first serving the region in 1992.

“Its six times weekly service is ideally placed to provide both business and leisure passengers have easy access to Belgium capital.

“We are delighted to welcome Brussels Airlines back into our airline portfolio, ensuring that we are truly on track to serve Midlands.”

This is not the only announcement the airline has made in recent weeks with it booths ready to be reviewed.

In September, the European airline unveiled its huge expansion plans, which included a €100m (£85m) refurbishment of its cabins.

Brussels Airlines CEO Dorothea von Boxberg previously said: “The multi-million euro investment in the cabin interior allows us to offer our customers an even more premium experience.

“It is with great pleasure that we will offer more connections to the growing number of passengers on our growing network.”

Brussels Airlines will also add three new ones Airbus A330 aircraft to its fleet, increasing the number to 13.

Currently, Brussels Airlines has flights from several Londons airportsas well as Manchester Airport, Bristol Airport and Newcastle International Airport.

The airline also won a number of awards this year, including Europe’s Leading Airline Show at the World Travel Awards.

Baggage rules for major airlines

British Airways

  • Cabin baggage: 1 handbag (max 56 x 45 x 25 cm) and 1 personal item (max 40 x 30 x 15 cm), total weight up to 23 kg.
  • Checked Baggage: Economy allows 1 bag up to 23 kg. Premium Economy, Business and First Class allow more.

EasyJet

  • Cabin baggage: 1 small hand bag (max 45 x 36 x 20 cm), no weight limit, but must fit under the seat.
  • Checked Baggage: Charges apply, up to 23kg per bag. Passengers can pay for additional weight up to 32 kg.

Ryanair

  • Cabin baggage: 1 small bag (max 40 x 20 x 25 cm). Priority boarding allows an additional larger cabin bag (max 55 x 40 x 20 cm, up to 10 kg).
  • Checked Baggage: Taxes apply, 10kg or 20kg bag options.

Virgin Atlantic

  • Cabin baggage: Economy and Premium allow 1 hand luggage (max 56 x 36 x 23 cm, up to 10 kg). Upper Class allows 2 bags.
  • Checked Baggage: Economy Light has no checked baggage. Economy Classic, Delight and Premium allow at least 1 bag up to 23 kg. Upper Class allows 2 bags.

United

  • Cabin baggage: Economy allows 1 bag (max 55 x 38 x 20 cm, up to 7 kg). Business and First Class allow 2 bags (up to 12 kg in total).
  • Checked Baggage: Economy class varies depending on the type of fare (from 20 kg to 35 kg). Business and First Class allow up to 40kg and 50kg respectively.

Ryanair recently launched a route from Newcastle to Marrakesh.

At the beginning of this year, Jet2 confirmed that a new route will operate between Manchester Airport and Porto.
