OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – After a gusty day yesterday, we’ll see winds reach a new high today.

Southerly gusts this afternoon could reach 50 miles per hour, exacerbating the already high fire risk.

Much of the area is under a red flag warning; any fire that starts could get out of control very quickly.

Temperatures will top out in the low 80s today, our warmest day in the forecast by far.

Winds remain active through the night, with gusts that could still exceed 35 miles per hour.

As we get closer to sunrise, a few storms will become possible.

The chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms increases as the morning continues with those likely in the afternoon.

A few of them will be capable of producing gusty winds and hail, especially southeast of the metro.

Temperatures will top out in the low 60s in the morning, but most of Wednesday will be in the mid-50s with a strong northwest wind.

Any remaining patchy showers should end very early Thursday with gradual clearing for the rest of our Halloween.
