Leanne felt that it was no longer feasible to deal with the customers of the Bistro due to her involvement in the disenchanted cult.

Nick understood Leanne’s decision, but then surprisingly offered the job of manager to Toyah. He claimed that Toyah would be an excellent professional partner, plus she would help Leanne settle in seeing them together.

“You know the ropes, you know the rules, you know the clientele. Besides, we work well together,” Nick insisted.

Leanne had an unexpected reaction when she found out that Toyah had been offered the position of Bistro Manager.

“It’s okay,” she assured Nick. “(Toyah) knows everything, she’s familiar with how we do things. So, yeah, a good choice.”

Nick was relieved by Leanne’s reaction, although there was a slight edge to her voice as she insisted that “what’s in the past, stays in the past.”

Jane Danson suggested this Leanne will probably need time to process the trauma from the last few months – both from The Institute and Toyah and Nick’s betrayal.

“I would definitely say there’s trouble ahead, because you can’t go through all that and then be fine,” she said.

“There must be some scars from what has been. I imagine she’ll feel a little bad too, for investing in a friendship she thought was real, and which will obviously have some sort of psychological effect later on. “

Viewers can expect more heartache for Leanne as it has been reported that Coronation Street will kills her father Les Battersby off-screen as part of an exciting new story.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and airs on ITVX.
