Sticky Fingers NZ frontman Dylan Frost to fight accusations he stole Woolworths chicken and coffee

Frost’s girlfriend Elyssa Ford, 23, also allegedly stole a Life Savers Raspberry Fizz Stix from the same Woolworths at the same time.

The couple both entered not guilty pleas in August, with Ford facing one count each of theft of goods under $2000 and possession of a prohibited drug.

Representing Frost, attorney Robert Candelori asked that the matter go to trial in July 2025, when his client will defend the shoplifting charge.

Frost is due back in court next month.

The 34-year-old is the lead singer and guitarist for Sydney indie rock band Sticky Fingers, who went on a two-year “hiatus” in 2016 following a string of allegations against Frost.

He has been accused of racism, sexism, transphobia and aggressive behavior and in an interview on Triple J’s radio show Hackresponded to his past antics by stating, “Boys will be boys.”

In a statement to Instagram at the time, the band said the comments “were in no way meant to show that we’re not truly on the path to positive change.”

A month after the interview, Frost was kicked out of Sydney pub Kelly’s on King in Newtown after another incident with Music reporting that he was escorted from the premises after a verbal altercation with model Alexandra V Tanygina. Australian reported that Frost told Tanygina “he hated transgender feminists, he couldn’t be sexist because his mother was a feminist, and he couldn’t be racist because he was Maori”.

Frost isn’t the only band member facing backlash. In 2021, bassist Paddy Cornwall pleaded guilty to a fight with Frost at a bowling club in Marrickville, during which he punched the frontman 26 times in the head – who was also charged and later admitted to rehab .

Frost previously said he suffered from “alcohol addiction and mental health issues” and had been diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia.

In 2022, Frost took the stage at a concert in Melbournelater apologizing on Facebook.

In March 2023, Sticky Fingers were pulled from the Bluesfest line-up following criticism of their inclusion.

Also in 2023, a writer close to the band, Nelson Groom, released the book Belly of the Beast: On the road with sticky fingersbased on them 2019 tour in Australia and New Zealand.

Frost grew up in Auckland, where his mother owned a club, and the book details his time on Grays Ave and the family’s move to Australia for a fresh start.

“Groom paints a troubled portrait of Frost – ‘an anti-social butterfly’ – who was known to disappear for long periods and was often hard to find before performances.” he wrote Herald reviewer Ben Tomsett. “The book goes on to detail that Frost was admitted to rehab.”

Frost back in New Zealand for a while in 2019, staying in the Bay of Plenty and working with Tiki Taane on his debut solo EP, Lush linguistics.
