MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) — A 42-year-old man is facing multiple charges in Myrtle Beach after he allegedly stole someone’s scooter, hit her with a stick while they chased him and tried to break into someone’s house with a shovel, according to the data. reports obtained by News13.

Shyneek Chestnut was charged with common law robbery, second-degree aggravated burglary, first-degree assault and battery, identity fraud to avoid detection by law enforcement, trespassing after notification and providing a false name or address.

The first incident occurred on Oct. 14 when police responded to the area of ​​Acline Avenue and Crimson Street for a robbery, a report said. When officers arrived, a woman who “appeared panicked, out of breath and crying” said her electric scooter was charging in Batsheba Park when Chestnut stole it.

The woman told police she started chasing Chestnut while he was on the scooter when he grabbed a stick and broke it by hitting her in the head, according to the report. Chestnut also reportedly said that he would “wonder” if she would still follow him before leaving.

Another person witnessed the incident and began chasing Chestnut down a path on Acline Street until they were hit in the head with a brick. The report noted, however, that the person’s head “did not reveal any injury from a brick or other heavy object.”

More than a week later, on Wednesday, officers responded to Carver Street for a burglary, according to a report. The person told police that Chestnut was in the back of the house, breaking the back bedroom window with a shovel and trying to pry the lock on the window to open it.

Chestnut fled the scene before police arrived, the report said. He was then arrested later on Wednesday after police responded to another burglary call on Dunbar Street.

Chestnut gave responding officers an ID that was not his, the report said. Then, when he got to jail, he also allegedly gave the officers a false name.

Chestnut was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Thursday, online records show. As of this writing, he remains in jail on bonds totaling over $525,000.
