WATCH: Olympic Way residents protest alleged ‘TikToker’ killing by police

ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Angry residents of Olympic Way, St Andrew staged a road blockade for a second day on Monday following the alleged police killing of 19-year-old Jaheim Morrison and the serious injury of another teenager on Saturday night.

On Sunday, residents used debris, which they set on fire, to block the road.

According to residents, around 11 p.m., the teenagers were riding a motorcycle on Woodpecker Avenue in the community when they were chased by police. Police are reported to have used their vehicle to knock the teenagers off their motorbike before running over Morrison and crashing their service vehicle into a wall.

The other teenager is said to be in serious condition in hospital.

“They went to pay a round robin, but I don’t know why the police are getting involved with them because he has a license and he’s just buying the bike,” Morrison’s father said.

“They never have to deal with it, they could deal with it in a more professional way, but they just choose to take the lives of these two young people like this,” he said, adding that the teenagers were shot before they were hit from the motorcycle.

Burnt debris blocked the road in Olympic Way as residents protested the alleged police killing of a 19-year-old ‘TikToker’.

Residents claim that the deceased was a quiet person who mainly spent his time on the video sharing platform, TikTok.

They said it was the second alleged police killing in the community in just over a year, after a man was shot and killed in May 2023. The Independent Commission of Inquiry launched an inquiry into the incident.
