Benton County, Mo. woman accused of shooting her husband

BENTON COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) – A Benton County woman has been charged after shooting her husband Thursday night.

Lori Nicolaisen, 49, is charged with second-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action, according to court documents.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says on Thursday around 9:30 p.m., deputies responded to an address in rural Warsaw for a possible shooting. Nicolaisen called dispatch and told them she had shot her husband and would wait for deputies to arrive.

The sheriff’s office says when deputies got there, they arrested Nicolaisen and entered the home to find her husband on the floor and shot in the upper torso. The man was able to give a statement to authorities before being airlifted to a trauma center.

Investigators say the couple had been drinking and Nicolaisen started yelling at her husband. Her husband told her he was done drinking, and that’s when, authorities say, she took a gun from her purse and shot her husband.

According to court documents, Nicolaisen told authorities she shot him because he assaulted her seven years ago. Police say she shot her husband in the past.

She is being held in the Benton County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
