Maharashtra Assembly Elections: The Election Commission has declared the first result in Maharashtra. Maharashtra election result: BJP’s Kalidas Nilkanth Kolambkar defeats Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Shraddha Shreedhar Jadhav in Wadala by a margin of 24,973 votes. The ruling BJP-led Mahayuti Alliance looked set to retain power in Maharashtra and was leading in 220 of the 288 assembly seats, according to the latest Election Commission figures. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi was stumbling, with its candidates leading by just 47 seats, according to early trends.

Indicating a landslide victory for the ruling alliance, TV channels said Mahayuti was leading with 212 seats and MVA in 68 constituencies as counting of votes began on Saturday morning in the November 20 election. According to ECI figures, in Mahayuti, BJP candidates were leading in 111 seats, Shiv Sena in 58 and NCP in 35 seats.

In MVA, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) candidates led in 9 seats, Congress in 20 and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) in 18 seats. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar led in their respective assembly constituencies in the first round of vote counting.
