New details in case of Florida mother accused of drowning child who was ‘vomiting, not eating and feeling weak’

KISSIMMEE, Fla.Kelsey Glover walked into the Kissimmee courtroom in chains. It was the first hearing since the arrest. It was a remand hearing that didn’t last very long, but provided startling new details about what happened on November 20.

In newly released documents, prosecutors said Glover was refusing to give his 14-year-old daughter, Giselle, insulin. They say Giselle was “vomiting, not eating and feeling weak.” Glover, 35, allegedly refused to take her to the doctor or give Giselle her medication. They say Giselle doesn’t even drink water.

Glover is then said to have grabbed Giselle by the hair and held her under water in the bathroom. When Giselle’s live-in carer tried to stop Glover, she allegedly threw a hammer at the woman and said she was going to kill her.

“It’s a dark day when things like this happen,” Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said, “Miss Glover proceeded to attack and chase these witnesses around the house with a hammer.”

The caretaker called deputies, who showed up at Poinciana’s home, wrestled the hammer from Glover and arrested her. Giselle was pronounced dead at the hospital. Expert analysts said it was a tragic incident.

“This case is going to be entirely about Glover’s mental health, and that’s going to be the focus of everything,” said Albert Yonfa, an Orlando attorney unrelated to the case.

“Depriving a sick child of necessary medication, failing to provide support, refusing to receive medical treatment are all indications of gross, if not intentional, neglect,” said security expert Dave Benson.

Glover’s remand hearing was continued to Dec. 4. She will remain in jail until her hearing in December. So far, she is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery. After examiners determine Giselle’s cause of death, Glover could also face murder charges.
